The web page gives some brief biographical details of Captain T.T. Ellis, Superintendent of Natives. According to this biography, Ellis was a retired Captain of the 14th Regiment of Militia for the County of Surrey, England. He arrived in WA in 1830 and 'selected land in the Avon district.' He was appointed Resident Magistrate at Kelmscott and in December 1831 offered 'to form a Volunteer Cavalry Guard to protect the settlers from Aborigines.'
