The National Archives was established to preserve Australia's most valuable federal government records, to encourage their use by the public and to promote good records management by Australian Government agencies. The collection held by NAA traces events and decisions that have shaped the development of the nation and the lives of people in Australia. Visitors are welcome to explore collections on-line or in person.
