The Youth Accommodation Program in South Hedland was established by the East Pilbara Youth Council in 1983, to provide emergency accommodation and support services for young people aged 15-25 years who were homeless or in crisis. In 2003, the service transferred to the Youth Involvement Council Inc. The program has had a number of names over the years and remained open in 2014.
