Mission Australia was formed in Brisbane in 1859, but became active in Western Australia from 1997 when a number of city missions around Australia merged. Since 1997 in WA, Mission Australia has been the continuation of Jesus People (Inc), the legal entity that was sometimes known as 'Perth City Mission' and which ran refuges and youth welfare centres. Mission Australia inherited the records of Jesus People (Inc).
