'House of Mercy' is an article from The West Australian . It publishes a favourable report on the House of Mercy, written by the Inspector of Charitable Institutions, Mr James Longmore, in 1899. The report shows there were 'six adult inmates and three children' resident at the time of the inspection, and notes that 'the laundry work done by the inmates nearly meets the expenses of the housekeeping'.
