'The Swan Orphanage inquiry' is an item from The West Australian. It is a letter to the editor, from FD North, Under-Secretary of the State Children's Department. Mr North had conducted a Departmental Inquiry into the starvation of children at the Swan Boys' Orphanage in April 1911. During the coronial inquiry into the death through neglect of George Jones and the administration of the orphanage generally in July, the jury found Mr North's inquiry was 'perfunctory'. Mr North's letter defended his inquiry.
