Description

This submission contains Answers to Questions on Notice from Martin Laverty, CEO Catholic Health Australia, following public hearing 28 September 2011. Received 21 October 2011. This document identifies the Catholic hospitals that offered maternity services in Western Australia and other States from the 1950s to the 1970s. WA hospitals were: St Anne's Mt Lawley (now Mercy Hospital) and St John of God Hospitals at Subiaco, Rivervale (now closed), Bunbury and Geraldton.

The role of diethylstilboestrol in pregnancy management is also discussed, along with protocols for adoptions from Catholic hospitals during that period.
