This article summarises the findings of a research project into juvenile detention facilities in Western Australia in the 1950s by Peter Brett, a lecturer in Law at the University of Western Australia. Mr Brett found that the Mt Lawley Reception Home, Seaforth Salvation Army Boys' Home and the Home of the Good Shepherd Industrial School for Girls had either poor facilities, poor programs or both.
