This article from the Western Mail has information about the transfer of boys from the Rottnest Island Reformatory to the Salvation Army's reformatory at Collie. From the text of this article, it seems that the Rottnest Island Reformatory had been closed by early March 1902 at the latest. Aboriginal prisoners continued to be held on the island, and the article states that the Government planned to remove them, too, so that the island could be used as a 'holiday resort for the public.'
When the Rottnest Reformatory closed, the boys were sent to the Salvation Army’s institution at Collie.
