Share Care was established in 1983 in Abbotsford as a small, community based foster care program servicing the City of Yarra. Share Care arranged respite, emergency and longer-term care and accommodation for children in the homes of approved caregivers. Share Care aimed to strengthen and support families, assist with the prevention of family breakdown, and avoid the permanent placement of children away from their families.
The agency shared premises with a Maternal and Child Health Service.
In 2005, Share Care ceased operation.
