Kildonan Admission Centre, Hawthorn, was established around 1960. It assisted in placing children from 3 to 18 years into the Kildonan Homes for Children in Melbourne's eastern suburbs. In 1978, the facility became an adolescent unit, known as the Teenage Unit.
Kildonan Admission Centre was established around 1960 in Hawthorn. It was located in a building known as "Rathgar", at 149 Victoria Road, Hawthorn.
Children passed through the Kildonan Admission Centre before being placed in one of the family group homes operated by Kildonan Homes for Children in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
Children from Kildonan's family group homes with placement problems were also referred to the Admission Centre. The Admission Centre catered for children from 3 to 18 years. In 1978, the facility became an adolescent unit, known as the Teenage Unit.
