State of Tasmania
The Department of Justice replaced the Law Department in about 1992. It managed the court system, including the Supreme Court, the Solicitor-General, and corporate affairs. The Department included the Prison Service, which since 1989, had been run by the Department of Community Services. In 1998, the Department of Justice became the Department of Justice and Industrial Relations.
