The Statutes Amendment (Young Offenders) Act 2007 (Act No.57/2007) was passed on 29 November 2007 and commenced 3 February 2008. The full title is 'An Act to amend various Acts to make provision for serious repeat offending by young people'.

Amends

  • Criminal Law Consolidation Act 1935 (1936 - )

    Amendment of section 5AA-Aggravated offences: Offenders include persons who are children.

  • Young Offenders Act 1993 (1993 - )

    Amendment of section 3 - Objects and statutory policies. Regard should be had to eeterrent effects of proposed sanctions on other youths, as well as considerations for the need to rehabilitate the youth versus protection of the community.
