Joyville Cottage was established by the Salvation Army within the grounds of the Fullarton Children's Home at Fullarton in 1972. It was a cottage home for up to eight children who were cared for by cottage parents. Joyville Cottage is thought to have closed in 1986 when Fullarton Children's Home closed.

Details

Joyville Cottage was established by the Salvation Army within the grounds of the Fullarton Children's Home at Florence Street, Fullarton, in 1972. It was built on the site of an old playroom which was demolished to make room for the new facility. Joyville was a cottage home for up to eight children who were cared for by cottage parents. The Salvation Army developed this cottage in response to pressure from the government for non-government agencies to move away from large institutional care in favour of smaller residential care facilities. Joyville Cottage is thought to have closed in 1986 when Fullarton Children's Home closed.
