Details

I'Anson Cottage was created by the Adelaide Central Methodist Mission in 1957 when Cann Home on Adelaide Street, Magill, part of the Methodist Children's Homes, was divided into two Cottage style homes. One half of the building was named Cann Cottage and the other half was named I'Anson Cottage. The creation of these two Cottages enabled two family groups to live independently under one roof. Each Cottage accommodated approximately 12 children with a Housemother or Cottage Parents.

I'Anson Cottage continued to operate after the Methodist Children's Homes changed their name to Lentara in 1960. Both Cann Cottage and I'Anson Cottage closed in around 1977 when Lentara ceased to operate and the Adelaide Central Mission moved its Cottages into other suburban areas.
