Largs Bay Cottage Home was opened by the government at Largs Bay in 1970. It operated as a hostel for Aboriginal boys who were working or attending secondary schools in the area. The date of closure of the Largs Bay Cottage Home is not known.

Details

Largs Bay Cottage Home was established by the Department of Social Welfare and Aboriginal Affairs at 24 Railway Terrace, Largs Bay, in December 1970. It was specifically developed as a hostel for Aboriginal boys who were working or attending secondary schools in the area. Annual Reports from 1969-70 stated that there was a special need for more Cottages, particularly for Aboriginal children.

Largs Bay Cottage Home accommodated up to eight boys. The home was provided to the cottage parents rent-free and they were paid a subsidy for each child in residence.

The date of closure of the Largs Bay Cottage Home is not known.
