The W. R. Black Home and Blackheath Home Records are held by the Presbyterian Church of Queensland. These records contain some basic information about children who lived at these Homes.

Access Conditions

The Presbyterian Church of Queensland Archives will provide information from these records to former residents. Access to some information may be restricted to protect the privacy of some individuals.

Records

Previously, these records were in the custody of the Fryer Library at the University of Queensland. Since the records were returned to the Presbyterian Church of Queensland Archives, spreadsheets have been compiled to speed up the process of responding to requests for information from former residents.

The W. R. Black Home Records consist of:

Application Forms (1923-1949)
These forms contain information such as names, addresses, the date of the request for admission and whether the request was accepted or not.

Register of Children (1924-1951, 1952)
Information in the Register includes names, addresses, date and place of birth, name of parent/guardian and some details about children.

Child Endowment Schedule (1941-1952)
These records contain basic information about children arriving at and leaving W. R. Black Home, and names of parents.

The Blackheath Home Records consist of:

Blackheath Register (1924-1950)
These records contain basic information about children arriving at and leaving Blackheath Home, and names of parents.

School Records (1927-1963)
These records contain the names of pupils and year of schooling and school roll number.

The Collection also includes:

Correspondence (1946-1954)
There is a small amount of correspondence relating to registration of W. R. Black Home and Blackheath Home.
