Northern Territory of South Australia
The Colonial Surgeon for the Northern Territory was the new title given to the Medical Officer, Palmerston in 1874. This position was held by a number of appointed officers during the period. At times the Colonial Surgeon also acted as Protector of Aborigines. In 1885 the title was changed again to Medical Officer.
