St Anne's Orphanage
The Notifications of Reception register (1921-45; 1954-67) records: date of reception; mother's name, address and condition; child's name, date and place of birth; reason for admission; maintenance agreement; if placed with person for nursing before reception; and child's religion. From 1954 onwards, additional information includes: mother's occupation and marital status; father's name and occupation; name and address of person from whom the child was received; and arrangements made by parent as to clothing and medical attendance. Application for access must be made, in writing, to the Archivist-in-Charge, providing personal identification and establishing the right to access information. Physical access to the records is not permitted due to their fragility and the need to protect the confidentiality of information concerning other persons. Information will be forwarded by mail.
