The Sisters of Mercy, Bathurst were responsible for the administration of two children's homes owned by the Catholic Diocese of Bathurst: St Joseph's Orphanage, Bathurst which operated from 1867 to 1975; and Croagh Patrick Orphanage, Orange which they were responsible for from 1969 to 1982. In 1981 this congregation became part of the Institute of the Sisters of Mercy of Australia (ISMA). On 12 December 2011 this congregation became part of the Institute of the Sisters of Mercy of Australia and Papua New Guinea (ISMAPNG).
