The description for the album states "These photographs from the archives of the School for Deaf Girls, Waratah, NSW, Australia: [Formerly known as Waratah Deaf and Dumb Institute], held by Cultural Collections at the University of Newcastle, Australia. This school was located at the Rosary Convent in Waratah. The photographs are from albums in archive box A5702."

There are 307 photos in the album as at April 2015. The majority of images were taken between 1900 and the 1940s and contain children who attended the school, past pupils and teachers.
