The January 2004 Crime and Misconduct Commission (CMC) report was the result of a inquiry into the foster care system in Queensland. The report contains 110 recommendations for reform, including the call for a new government department - the Department of Child Safety - dedicated exclusively to protecting the rights of Queensland children, particularly those in foster care.
