Hundreds of people were expected to attend a special service in Sydney's Botanic Gardens to hear the NSW Premier Nathan Rees issue a formal apology to the state's Forgotten Australians.

As a child, the Former Managing Director of the ABC David Hill, was sent to Fairbridge Farm in Central Western NSW. He told AM's Elizabeth Jackson the apology will offer some victims comfort, but won't undo the damage to children raised in institutions.
