Written in 1954, this long article gives a description of the 'cell block' in the Child Welfare Department's 'Reception Home' and a general overview of the Home and its operations, including the ages and backgrounds of children who were sent there. The author was concerned that children as young as 12 were being kept in solitary confinement and discusses this in relation to Children's Court sentencing practices.
