On 11 June 1998, the House of Commons Health Committee's Inquiry into the Welfare of Former British Child Migrants heard evidence from various 'sending agencies'and agencies which held records for people who were sent to Western Australia as child migrants. These included: the Catholic Child Welfare Council, The Children's Society, NCH Action for Children and Fairbridge.
Document 3 provides a history of Catholic child migration to Australia (1937-1963) and identifies the main government and church agencies involved in the migration scheme in Britain and Australia.
Document 5 outlines the findings of a visit to Western Australia by the Chairman and Secretary of the Catholic Child Welfare Council of Britain in 1995 to gain first-hand knowledge about the needs of Former British Child Migrants.
