In this interview, Frank Ellis Gare talks about his work for the Western Australia Native Welfare Department, starting as a patrol officer in the 1940s through to his position as State Commission of Native Welfare into the late 1980s. He discusses attitudes and policies impacting Aboriginal people, specifically in relation to practices of child removal and the policy of assimilation.
