Description
This advertisement announces annual collections will be taking place in Melbourne in aid of the House of Mercy and the Domestic Training School. It states that the Sisters of Mercy formed the school 7 years earlier to provide domestic training to girls aged 13 to 15 years old from the Emerald Hill (South Melbourne) orphanage. The girls received two years of training under the Nuns before being sent out to employment. It also states that at that time there were 18 girls at the institution, and that the Nuns would like to extend it but were unable to do so without donations.
