This is a copy of an address to the Uniting Church Historical Society by Reverend Harry Herbert, executive director of UnitingCare NSW/ACT, that was given in September 2011.

Herbert outlines the history of UnitingCare NSW/ACT and the Presbyterian, Methodist and Congregational Church agencies that preceded it, including children's homes they ran. He also discusses the necessary closure of children's homes, with reference to the findings of the Senate Inquiry into Forgotten Australians and Former Child Migrants.
