Description
This item from The Inquirer & Commercial News is a letter from the Rev. J. Young Simpson who became the founding chairperson of the House of Mercy in Perth. In this letter to the editor, Rev. Simpson asks the people of Perth to 'band together' to develop a home for single, pregnant women. He was successful in this: the House of Mercy was established in 1891 and its initial management committee included Ministers from the Methodist, Anglican and Presbyterian Churches.
