Open.
Under the Archives Act 1983, most Commonwealth records in the open access period are available for public access. The open access period is 20 years after the date of the creation of the record. Some records are subject to exemption for various reasons. Care leavers and other researchers need to apply for access to records if they are not already open. The National Archives website provides further information about access.
The letters relate to arrangements by the Orphanage to accommodate Migrant children from England and Malta as well as correspondence about subsidies. The file includes reports on the facilities at the Orphanage and policies in relation to care and aftercare of children. Some documents include the names of Child Migrants, dates of birth and details of their arrival in South Australia.
Please note the incorrect spelling of the name of the Orphanage and the suburb where it was located (Goodwood) has been transcribed by the NAA from an error on the original file.
We do not currently have any records linked to this organisation, but records may exist. The Find & Connect Support Service can help people who lived in orphanages and children's institutions look for their records.
