The Salvation Army is a Protestant Church organisation with a strong philanthropic mission. It ran a number of homes in South Australia including: The Adelaide Maternity Home (1893-1914), Barton Vale Girls' Home (1922-1947), The Bridge Industrial Home (1934-1977), The Bridge Rescue Home (1899-1934), Joyville Cottage (1972- )
Kurinda Cottage (1981- ), McBride Maternity Hospital (1914-1975), McBride Hospital (1975-1986), The Salvation Army Boys' Home, Eden Park (Mt Barker) (1900-1982), The Salvation Army Boys' Home, Kent Town (1929-1972), The Salvation Army Girls' Home, Fullarton (1901-1986), and The Salvation Army Young Women's Hostel (1922-1988).
