This register lists applicants who wished to hire out the services of orphaned children. The applicant's name and address is given, the applicant's religion, the date the application was received, whether male or female and any remarks. Comments include: location of the home, that an applicant was unsuccessful, whether the home would be suitable or unsuitable. Notations such as these are also listed: PF, PM - Protestant Female/Male; CF, CM - Roman Catholic Female/Male; ZF, ZM - Unknown religion; FM - Foster mother applicants. It has not been possible to identify all notations used. The first part of the register also provides information on children in hospital, boarded out etc. An index by the name of the applicant is at the front of the register; an index listing an applicant's name according to the religion of the child is also provided at the back of the register.
