The file Registration of births after lapse of nine months [Croker Island, Garden Point, Retta Dixon Home and other areas] 1954-1955, contains letters regarding the birthdates of Aboriginal children, considered at the time to be 'half-caste', whose birth was not registered within the 9 month registration period. Although the registration forms are no longer attached the letters refer to children at Croker Island Mission, Garden Point Mission, Retta Dixon Home and other Missions and institutions in the Northern Territory. Most letters provide the child's name and birth date. Some also provide the location of the children's births and other information. Please note that the last two pages of this file are a list of children committed to St Mary's Hostel.
