Prisoners, community-based offenders and juvenile detainees are able to request records of their personal information through formal (the Information Act 2002) and informal (via the Department of Correctional Services) methods.
Informal requests for personal information may be made to the Department for documents such as education records and academic transcripts.
Requests for records held by the Department of Correctional Services made outside of the Information Act cannot be made for information about other people. Documents which contain names of other people may be provided with the names blocked out.
