'Open with exception'.
This record has been digitised and is 'Open with exception' which means that some parts of the file are open and other parts are not. The website of the National Archives provides more information about access to records.
The forms provide the names and dates of birth of children and the dates of their admission and departure from the Home. A column headed 'Remarks' sometimes includes further information about holidays and admissions to hospital. The form also provides details of payments made for each child.
As well as these printed forms, the file also contains typed 'returns' - documents which give children's names, addresses of their next of kin and/or the foster parent to whom Child Endowment was paid, and dates of their movement from the Home to these new placements.
Both the forms and the returns note if a child is a 'State Child'. They also include the names of other institutions in the Northern Territory and interstate to which children were sent.
