Glossary terms starting with the letter T:

  • Temporary Care – Temporary care is short-term, emergency, respite or crisis accommodation for children and young people.
  • Therapeutic Residential Care – Therapeutic residential care (or TRC) is a placement for children and young people with carers with specialised training.
  • Training Centre – Training Centres were institutions in Victoria for people with an intellectual disability (not to be confused with Youth Training Centres for juvenile offenders).
  • Training Home – Training Homes were institutions where children learnt workforce skills - they were often for children who had been convicted of an offence.
  • Truancy – Truancy means intentional absences from school and became an offence when education became compulsory.
