Glossary terms starting with the letter F:

  • Family Assistance Scheme - Tasmania – The Family Assistance Scheme in Tasmania helped families in financial crisis that put children at risk.
  • Family Group Home – Family Group Homes accommodated small groups of children in buildings that were the size of an average family home.
  • Family Home – Family Homes were a type of out-of-home care in South Australia and the Northern Territory from the 1970s.
  • Farm School – Farm Schools provided residential care and training in agricultural duties.
  • Female Rescue Home – Female Rescue Homes were for the rescue and reform of women, including single mothers and their babies.
  • Forced Adoption – Forced adoption describes practices to coerce single mothers to put their children up for adoption.
  • Foster Care – Foster care is a home-based service provided to children and young people who are temporarily or permanently unable to live with their families of origin.
