These records are held by Tasmanian Archives (2011 - current).
The Wybra Hall Admissions and Discharges Register contains basic information about children who lived at Wybra Hall between 1956 when the Home opened and 1988 when it closed.
Closed E75 years
Closed E75 means that records in this series that have final entries less than 75 years old are closed to the general public. People wishing to access these records should contact Adoptions and Permanency Services After Care Support Program, which is run by the Department of Communities, to obtain written permission. How access is provided once permission is granted will depend on the file. Usually Adoptions and Permanency Services request it back and then provide access or copies. Staff at the Tasmanian Archive and Heritage Office may be able to assist you in finding other relevant records.
The entries from 1956 to July 1964 have the children’s names, dates of birth, admission and discharge dates. Those from 31 July 1964 onwards include other information such as ‘remarks’. ‘reasons for admissions’ , and parents’ names. The amount of information varies.
The back of the volume contains lists from 1966 to 1976 that are draft entries for the Register. The lists sometimes have additional information such as the names of foster parents or employers.
