The Master and Servants Act 1887 with the full title ‘An Act to further amend “The Master and Servant Act 1856″‘(Act no. 51 Vict. No.3) legislated that defendants brought before a Justice under The Master and Servant Act 1856 (Act no.19 Vict. No.28) were competent witnesses and could not be compelled to give evidence. This amendment was repealed by Statute Law Revision Act 1934 (25 Geo. V no.78) on 31 May 1938.
