The Anglican Homes Board was the body formed to replace Anglican Orphanages Board of Management to govern Anglican Children’s Homes in Perth. The Anglican Homes Board was supplemented by the Swanleigh Council which was formed to develop and govern the largest Anglican institution, Swanleigh, which replaced Swan Homes.
In The Noisy Mansions (1986, pp.210-214), former Director of Swan Homes and Swanleigh, Roy Peterkin gave an overview of the role of the Anglican Homes Board and other boards and committees of the Anglican Diocese of Perth which governed Anglican children’s homes.
The Anglican Homes Board’s role in governance changed in the 1960s. In 1959, the Swanleigh Council was formed to develop and then govern Swanleigh, which had replaced the Swan Homes. While The Anglican Homes Board continued until 1970, the Swanleigh Council took a more direct role in the governance of Anglican children’s Homes from 1960.
