Tasdeaf formed in 1987 following a recommendation by the Arthur Young Review of Services that the Society for the Blind, Deaf and Dumb be split into two. In 2012, the organisation offers Auslan interpreting, courses in Auslan, support to people who are deaf or hard of hearing, deaf cultural awareness training, and advocacy. In 2016 Tasdeaf and Vicdeaf merged, and in 2018 rebranded as Expression Australia.
Tasdeaf used to hold some of the records of the Blind, Deaf and Dumb Institute. Those records are now in the Tasmanian Archives. For closed records, contact Expression Australia (TasDeaf) and they will assist in the process to gain access to the records.
