St Patrick’s Province (Victoria and Tasmania) of the Christian Brothers was established in 1967. That year, St Patrick’s Province of the Christian Brothers was split into two provinces: St Patrick’s (Victoria and Tasmania) and Holy Spirit Province of the Christian Brothers (which governed the states of South Australia and Western Australia). St Patrick’s Province (Victoria and Tasmania) was governed from Melbourne. In 2007, all Christian Brothers provinces in Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea were brought together to form the Christian Brothers Oceania Province.
In 1997, in the state of Victoria, there was an amalgamation of child and family services run by Catholic religious orders to form the new organisation, MacKillop Family Services. Homes and services run by the Christian Brothers in St Patrick’s Province (Victoria and Tasmania) became part of MacKillop Family Services in 1997.
