Sister Kate’s Child and Family Services records, 1934-2002 [manuscript] is a collection of records held in the Battye Library’s Private Archives Collection at the State Library of Western Australia. The collection contains a range of records, some which are restricted to protect people’s privacy. The items in this collection include personal and administration records and audio-visual material. There are some records for: Parkerville Children’s Home; Sister Kate’s Children’s Cottage Home, Queen’s Park; Sister Kate’s Child and Family Care Services; and Manguri. There may also be admission and other information about people who were at the following Homes: Applecross Cottage, Ardross House, Greenmount Hostel, Hamilton Hill Hostel, Maddington Scatter Cottage, Yokine Cottage, and the Nollamara Children’s Respite Home.

The Sister Kate’s Child and Family Services records, 1934-2002 [manuscript] collection contains a range of archival series, some which are restricted. The records in this collection include:

  • Admission registers (restricted access) 9 April 1940 to 17 November 1954; and then from 1 January 1956 to 23 September 1982
  • Address books (restricted access)
  • Child endowment and child welfare records (restricted access) 1944 to 1951
  • Personal records (restricted access)
  • Bankbooks for the Children’s Cottage Home and Sister Kate’s Memorial Fund, various dates from 1946 to 1951
  • Various administration items from Manguri Corporation, 1988 to 2002
  • Financial statement (1984) and financial records, 1992 to 2002
  • Legal documents, Minutes and plans, statistics and reports, 1992 to 2002
  • Administration files and audio-visual materials

Access Conditions
