Riverina Welfare Farm for Boys, Yanco records, State Archives NSW

These are records created by the Riverina Welfare Farm for Boys, Yanco, and held by Museums of History NSW (State Archives). The collection includes three series of records that contain information about boys that spent time at the farm – a doctor’s book, a dentist’s book and a visitor’s book.

Access Conditions

Access to these records is currently restricted. In New South Wales, records relating to individuals, such as case files and correspondence are closed to public access for 100 years. Records such as registers and indexes are closed to public access for 80 years.

  This book contains information about boys who received medical treatment while living at the Riverina Welfare Farm. It includes information such as the date of the visit, boy’s name, nature of the complaint, a brief description of the treatment given, and the fee charged.
• Dentist’s Book, 1929-1942. Reference Number: NRS-14761.
  This book contains information about boys who received dental treatment while living at the Riverina Welfare Farm. It includes information such as the date of visit, boy’s name, nature of work done (e.g. fillings or extractions), fee charged, and other remarks. From 1936 patients are listed by surname only.
• Visitor’s Book, 1937-1942. Reference Number: NRS-14762.
  This book contains information about visitors to the Riverina Welfare Farm. It includes information such as date of visit, name and address of the visitor, and other remarks.
