The Relief Home for Women and Children was a refuge that provided temporary shelter for women and children in Darlinghurst in the 1920’s and 1930s. It was first listed in the 1921 Sands directory at 57 Stanley Street, and from 1925 was listed at 329 Bourke Street, Darlinghurst. The home was managed by a private committee, and relied on charitable donations. In 1930 it was reported that the home was struggling financially, and was no longer able to pay its donations collectors. It was mentioned in a 1933 Survey of Social Agencies, but it is not clear how long it lasted after this date.
