Details

This series contains registers recording details of children admitted to and discharged from Diamantina Receiving Depot and Infant’s Home, and Warilda. The registers contain information including child’s name, date of birth, reference, date admitted, date discharged, religion, if christened, vaccinations received, where/who they were admitted from/by, and where they were discharged to (discharge information is not always recorded). The end of the registers also contain information about girls who were hired out to employers between 1960 and 1967, including some names and addresses of employers. Registers dating from 1966 contain additional information, including names and address of parents/guardians, authority for admission (e.g. care and control order), details of visits to the child, details of outings or appointments where the child temporarily left the institution. Many forms also include additional annotations with notes on family circumstances, child’s health, adoption arrangements, personal letters, health insurance, and newspaper clippings/photographs.
