The State Records Office of Western Australia (SROWA) holds a collection of records created by Sunday Island Primary School. Sunday Island Primary School was a government run school that took over the education of children on Sunday Island in 1955 following the closure of the United Aborigines Mission school at Sunday Island Mission. The collection includes records about children’s admission to and attendance at school, records of punishments of children, teacher reports on examinations and student progress, journals of the head teacher, general correspondence, teacher time books, and reports of the district superintendent’s inspections of the school.

  • Admission Registers, 1955 – 1962. Contains information on students admitted to the school, including name, date of birth, place of residence, place of birth, student number, previous and subsequent schools attended, grade, parents or guardians names, and date of and reason for leaving the school, where applicable.   • Attendance Registers, 1957 – 1962. Contains information on student attendance at the school, organised by school grade. These records are open. SROWA reference S1281.
