This image shows the premises of the former Church of England Orphan Home, which operated in Carrington Street between 1861 and 1908.
The library description states: The gate of the picket front fence stands open showing a man and woman standing at the entrance of this twin gabled house with a group of girls. This photograph was possibly taken during the 69th annual meeting of the Orphan Home in August 1928.
The library description states: Magill Orphanage at Woodforde, soon after its construction. Dressed in white pinafores, the little girls are all lined up on the left, whilst the boys are lined up on the right. Various staff members are included in the group and two women look on from a balcony.
The library description includes: Gilbert Street, Adelaide, north side, showing part of the Bushmen’s Home or Bushmen’s Club. This location later went on to house The Bridge Rescue Home and The Bridge Industrial Home.
