The Marriage Act 1895 also known by its full title “An Act to consolidate and amend the Laws relating to Marriage” (Act no. 59Vict. No.23) provides extensive detail on the registration and conduct of marriages. This includes provisions for the marriage of people under the age of 21. This legislation was repealed by the Marriage Act 1942 (Act no. 6 Geo. VI No.53) on 1 January 1943.
