The John Mulligan Photograph Collection, ca. 1960-1976 is a collection of photographs taken by John Aloysius Mulligan between 1960 and 1976. The subjects are social, religious and cultural events in Australia. The acetate negatives have been discarded due to deteoriation but the National Library of Australia holds digital copies of all the images. The collection includes photographs of a number of children’s Homes from New South Wales and the Northern Territory.

Records

The photographs in the collection were provided to a range of publications and organisations.

Photographs in the collection from New South Wales include a series of photos of the Home of the Good Shepherd, images involving children of the Big Brother Movement, Royal Far West and St Edmund’s School. There are also images of babies at the Royal Hospital for Women and a few photos of the Metropolitan Children’s Court on Albion Street, Sydney.

Photographs in the collection from the Northern Territory include images of Santa Teresa Mission, Garden Point Mission (Melville Island), Bathurst Island Mission and the children who lived at the Missions.
